Climate Change Adaptations

With the growing impacts of climate change, existing threats to safety and resilience are being significantly exacerbated, tremendously increasing the vulnerability of those already at risk.

Project Description

Enhanced access to and consumption of diverse, safe, and nutritious foods in Makueni and Kitui Counties through establishment of Cone Gardens & Trainings on GAP and value addition.

Candle of Hope Foundation (COHF), in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO Kenya), implemented a livelihoods project targeting 500 households (HHs) in Kitui County’s Mwingi Central Sub- County and 500 HHs from Kibwezi West & Kibwezi East Sub-Counties in Makueni County. As part of the initiative, cone gardens aimed to enhance food security, improve nutrition, and build resilience among vulnerable community members. This report outlines the training and implementation process, the advantages of cone gardens, and their anticipated impact.

The introduction of cone gardens by COHF in Mwingi Central Sub- County represents a transformative approach to addressing food security and nutrition challenges in vulnerable communities. Through effective training and collaboration with local stakeholders, the project equips households with sustainable solutions to improve their livelihoods. These gardens will continue to provide long-term benefits, fostering resilience and enhancing the well-being of the community
